I write all the time — until I don’t. Let me explain. I am fortunate to be retired with a monthly income. That allows me to do what I love without the pressure of having to write to make money.
When I do make money on the side it is like winning a trophy. Just like in sports sometimes I get a little bummed because a few games in a row are not winners but I got to play so it was worth the time.
When a new idea seems to have merit I open the “write a story” tab on Medium and jot down the title or simply the random thought. Then when nothing motivates me immediately, I scan through the different titles and begin writing from the prompt.
“Until I don’t” refers to the days I find something better to do. Kind of like off season for sports. It is important to rest and rejuvenate. Writing is my play time but too much of anything can ruin the fun.
