Kind Actions Eliminate Road Rage
Focus on how your driving impacts others
People in our world are on edge. Daily in the news, there are reports of violence that make me shudder. Often conflict occurs while driving — in parking lots, on freeways, or simply going across town. I am to the point that if I don’t have to drive, I don’t. It doesn’t offer the enjoyment it once did. In fact, it causes frustration.
Many factors contribute to my anxiety. The congestion in our growing city increase the risks. Stop and go wears on the breaks and the nerves. Construction blocks most straight forward routes. Impatient drivers stretch the limits of safety.
I have noticed that all these factors combined prompt drivers to forget basic driving etiquette. The more I am behind the wheel and my patience wears thin, I’ve started to identify behaviors that increase my aggression. Because I believe change begins with me, I am attempting to curve these behaviors and find that when I am kinder on the road, my own temperament is calmer.
These five behaviors, if practiced by everyone, will positively impact our travel experiences.
